Coffee Wars - Move (2023)

Part of the course work of the Main Street Vegan Academy (MSVA) is to watch ten (10) films. One of the featured films included on the long list of possible films to watch was Coffee Wars. I love this movie so much, I've watched it at least three (3) times already since May of this year. 

I love the main character, Jo. I wish I could get away with fun colored hair. Maybe when I'm able to retire from my stuffy office job!

Having a love-hate relationship with coffee... Mostly love, or addiction, I suppose... when I saw this movie on the list, I just had to watch it. 

I loved the movie's spoof, Buck Stars, which of course reminded me of all my trips to Starbucks. Where I would knowingly choose to order my cold brew with sweet vanilla cream instead of making a non-dairy choice. Why? Because it was easier and less expensive. The drinks at Starbucks already seem ridiculously expensive and to add on to that cost for a non-dairy option seemed insurmountable. I know, the choice should have been not to be in Starbucks, if I couldn't justify the expense, or to pay the little bit extra to make the non-dairy selection. Either way, the choice should have been to vote with my dollars in line with my values that run deeper than the money in my pocket. Since deciding to go vegan for the rest of my life starting 12/2/24, I haven't been back to Starbucks and I've probably saved some bucks and hopefully minimized some animal suffering.

I haven't given up coffee though. I still purchase cold brew at the grocery store and I make homemade choco soy milk. I use a LOT less sweetener than Buck Stars, spend a lot less money, and it's still enjoyable.

I did really enjoy all the artwork depicted in the movie as being the barista's latte art. Not sure how much of that latte art was really possible. If they were depicting real art, probably done by others, it was some amazing stuff.

The movie is super fun and enjoyable to watch. At least I think so, otherwise I probably wouldn't have watched it at least 3 times over the past 3 months, LOL !!
